A group of people from New Song will be providing a meal at Pioneer Park every other Friday evening through the summer. If you're interested in cooking, serving food or building relationships with those who come for the meal, we'd love to have you. If you have questions about how you can get involved, email Jill Barnhart.
We are kicking off the summer with our first Grill’s On coming June 2nd! Grab your friends and family and head over to the John Neff group site in Mill Creek Canyon right after the service for a fun cook out with your New Song family. There will be hamburgers, hot dogs, veggie burgers, chips and some drinks provided. If you're able, please bring a side or dessert to share.
The main campsite is called Church Fork Picnic Area, and that's what all the signs in Millcreek Canyon will say. Within that picnic area, we are at the John Neff group site.
We will have several car passes for people to use on their way out (otherwise it's $2-3 for using the canyon). Please note that there is no potable water (we will have plenty), but there are toilets. People are encouraged to carpool since parking is limited.
To get there:
Take I-215 to Exit 4 (3900 South) and go east to Wasatch Blvd. Turn north to 3800 South. At 3800 South (which becomes Mill Creek Canyon Road) turn east, drive through the neighborhood and up into the canyon. The gated road for the Church Fork Picnic Area is located 2.3 miles from the Toll Booth on the left side of the canyon road.
The Tribe kids will be putting on a car wash to raise support for their upcoming summer camp trip in the parking lot at Wasatch Seventh Day Adventist (our Sunday morning meeting location). Tribe will be raising money to help with expenses for the Reformed Youth Ministries Camp they will be attending this June.
If you're brand new to our church, or you've been around a while and want to learn more about who we are, come join us for lunch to Discover New Song. We'll be meeting at Robert and Michelle Binion's house at 12:30 after church; let us know if you're planning to come so we can get you the address and plan to have enough food.
We'll be holding a congregational meeting after worship on Sunday, March 17th for our annual Elder election . Kobus Van der Merwe is our nominee for the office of Ruling Elder this year, and we are excited to participate in an election for him that Sunday.
If you are interested in learning more about how you can get involved with the Refugee Flourish Group, join us at 6 p.m. on March 23 at the Barnhart’s house. If you've already taken steps towards serving with the IRC or are still interested in doing so, come learn more about how you can get involved and how we can support one another as we grow in this ministry.
Abby Barnhart is heading up a collection of clothing to share with those struggling with homelessness in our city. Several families from New Song have been helping to make and serve a meal every other Friday, and they would love to be able to distribute winter outerwear and blankets. Abby will be collecting those items the next few Sundays if you are able to help.
